Welcome to WCPSD - Lead school 'St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School'

Wigan Catholic Primary School Direct (lead by?Saint Patrick's?Catholic Primary School)?is a large partnership of twenty-four Catholic primary schools spread across the Wigan Local Authority. WCPSD is made up of a range of developing, successful and outstanding primary schools with varying contexts, all of which have a shared common goal of training high quality teachers, with a vision for excellence.

Working in partnership with Liverpool Hope University we are able to develop direct training that will have the academic and theoretical underpinning to allow trainees to become outstanding practitioners within the field of education.

We are seeking individuals who demonstrate and are able to apply the skills of organisation, flexibility, reflection, evaluation and action to all aspects of the course and their career. Enthusiastic individuals who are able to communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents on a range of levels are essential to our partnership.

Primary teacher training with additional EYFS

We are pleased to unveil our new teacher training programme (with additional EYFS) which will coexist with our current programme. This course is now live on UCAS and can be selected using our same provider code 2A4 but with course code AP55. Placements will include EY and KS1 placements and will have an additional 12 hours of EYFS training available to the graduate.

Skills Tests

We have been advised that for students wishing to undertake a teacher training course for academic year 2020-2021 the passing of skills tests will no longer be a requirement of the course.
